On 1 December 2011, for the 15th time since 1996, ASDEMO organized in Gomel a social event in line with the World AIDS Day.

In the morning, 1 December 2011, ASDEMO activists organized teenagers from around the Central Administrative District of Gomel for action to commemorate the World AIDS Day. Together they inflated toy baloons and inscribed on them their wishses to AIDS sufferers and to all those wishing to avoid contracting this disease. Then they released these baloons into air at the central square of Gomel. 
In the evening, ASDEMO activists and other young urbanites gathered for a traditional 'Let's beat AIDS!' action. By the end of this social event, Vladimir Kovzelev, head of ASDEMO, addressed the audience, saying that sociological surveys among young urbanites had revealed a high level of awareness with regard to AIDS, which in itself failed to deliver us from this problem, as AIDS continued spreading. He concluded by expressing his opinion, that the problem was to be found not at the level of our awareness but in the lack of moral principles amongst the youth.

На мероприятии выступили городские хип-хоп-коллективы, были продемонстрированы видеоролики на тему профилактики ВИЧ/СПИД, прошли тематические конкурсы и викторины, победители которых получили призы. Перед молодежью выступили представители церкви, которые поделились своим видением проблемы СПИДа. 
Волонтер АСДЕМО Инна Голик, которая ранее работала психологом в женской колонии, привела статистические данные. Так, по ее словам, более десяти лет назад в колонии были один-два ВИЧ-инфицированных заключенных, затем — 20, а через полтора года их стало 95. Голик призвала молодежь заботиться о себе и своем здоровье.
